Tashkent International Marathon, Apr 13th

Tashkent’s biggest running event is back on 13 April 2025!

The 7th Tashkent International Marathon is set to take over the city once again, with thousands of runners expected to take part in the marathon, half marathon, and 10km races.

This year’s course winds through the scenic roads at the new location of Yangi O’zbekiston Park.

Around 8,000 runners from all over the world are expected to join and there’s a prize pool of 639 million UZS, plus a 50 million UZS bonus for anyone who sets a new course record.

Here’s what’s happening across the weekend:

10–11 April – Marathon EXPO @ Magic City Park (10:00–20:00)
Open to everyone — not just runners. Participants must pick up race packs. The general public can explore interactive zones from partner brands, check out the latest in sports and wellness, and enjoy live music and a festive atmosphere.

12 April – Family & Fun Runs @ Magic City Park (08:00)
A more relaxed day of races before the main event, including:
– Kids’ Run (1 km and 3 km)
– Nordic Walking (3 km)

13 April – Race Day @ Yangi O’zbekiston Park, (08:00)
The main event! Marathon, half marathon and 10km races with thousands of participants and a lively crowd. Open to the public if you want to come and support the runners.

I’ll be out there embarrassing myself running the half marathon (wish me luck—I’ve spent more time in Georgian restaurants than on training).

I hope to see some of you along the way!

In the News this Week…

Restaurant of the Week: Gruzin

Meat stews, dumplings, and rich cheese-filled bread…

If you’ve never tried Georgian food before, you’re missing out on something special.

Meat and vegetable dishes flavoured with herbs, complemented with fruit and nuts and often topped with cheese make it one of the most indulgent cuisines around.

There are several Georgian restaurants in Tashkent, and Gruzin is among the best quality and value for money.

Some of the highlights include khinkali—Georgian dumplings in a cream sauce, topped with pomegranate seeds—and khachapuri, a rich bread filled with cheese and egg, so rich and smooth that a few bites may be enough. (Tip: ask the waiter to mix in the egg and cheese for you.)

There’s a full bar, but it’s well worth trying a glass of Georgian wine—it’s some of the oldest and most distinctive in the world.
